Grist Mill

The Greenbrier Sporting Club built a replica of a gristmill of the period. This charming facility serves as a proud reminder of the agricultural heritage of this area.

The Grist Mill is the centerpiece of our Howard’s Creek neighborhood that Sporting Club members can reserve for private events. This lush valley in which the Grist Mill resides was a favorite hunting ground of the local Indian tribes and remained a secret until the middle of the 18th century. In time, the area grew into a farming community, and with its growth came the need for a gristmill to grind the grain into flour. The original gristmill on Howard’s Creek has long since faded into history, but, guided by architectural research, The Greenbrier Sporting Club built a replica of a gristmill of the period. This charming facility serves as a proud reminder of the agricultural heritage of this area.
