Hunt CabinThe Hunt Cabin plays a large part in the history of The Greenbrier and Greenbrier County.
In the past, The Hunt Cabin has served as a homestead, a venue for horse shows, tea parties of yesteryear, an airstrip facility, and of course, a historical hunting cabin – built in 1932 as the original Skeet & Trapshoot Club for The Greenbrier.
A fully stocked pond with a dock awaits the sound of whizzing fishing reels, and Howard’s Creek curls around the back of the cabin, offering two different worlds for the leisure angler. The Hunt Cabin stands as both a historical landmark as well as the center for all of your Sporting Club outdoor pursuits.
The Hunt Cabin is the home-base for all your outdoor recreation needs, including a two-person custom desk to tie your flies for fishing. This is also where our on-site naturalist and director of outdoor pursuits can be found. Programs that run out of the Hunt Cabin range from guided nature hikes on the property to full and half-day trips down regional rivers.
A variety of wildlife call The Greenbrier Sporting Club home, including: whitetail deer, red and gray foxes, bobcats, mink, otters, and a variety of bird species. Our on-site naturalist can always tailor a nature program to you and your family’s needs and desires.
The Hunt Cabin can also be reserved for private events like cocktail parties, intimate dinner parties, and more. Imagine your next event in the rustic living room where guests can warm themselves on chilly spring evenings by the stone fireplace, or enjoy warm summer evenings relaxing on rocking chairs on the inviting porch.
